The Van Der Westhuizen's at Crossroads pt 2

Wessie and Brilliant

Wessie spoke about the importance of the Bible and started by giving some facts... He then went on to share some stories from the Bible or should I say strange stories and encouraged the Church to read their Bibles.

1. Genesis 5 speaks about a man who grew very old. Infact, he was the oldest man in the Bible. His name was Methuselah and he lived to be 969 years.
2. In Exodus 17, there was a battle and the only way to overcome the enemy was for a man to keep his hands raised. This man was Moses and God told him to keephis hands raised.
3. Numbers 22 we find a man speaking and then a donkey speaking back to him.
4. In Deuteronomy 3:11 we read about a giant whose bed was 4m long and 2m wide.
5. Joshua 10:13 speaks about the sun and the moon standing still the whole day.
6. Judges 7:5 tells us that when the men went to drink water, they lapped it up. (The way animals do)
7. In Judges 20 we read about an army of 700 people who were all left-handed. It’s unusual!
8. There is another story about a man who cut his hair once a year and the weight of his hair was 2.5kg.
9. There was a dying man who prayed and God gave him 15 more years.
10. In Isaiah 38 we read about the sun going backwards. (In Zimbabwe, the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Imagine it going backwards!)
