What's happening at Crossroads?

Remind Sibanda
Crossroads was a hive of activity today:
1. Folk waiting at the grinding mill to get served.
2. Folk buying groceries at the Tuckshop.
3. Beyond Belief farmers coming to get their tomatoes weighed and collected.
4. African Vaccination Week - immunising children who are 5 years and below.

I managed to chat to Remind Sibanda who is the Acting District Nursing Officer and part of the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare for Matobo District as well as Supervisor at Natisa Clinic (Local clinic in the area) on what exactly African Vaccination Week is all about. About 200 people including children had gathered at Crossroads.

He said that all over Zimbabwe and possibly Africa, we were commemorating African Vaccination Week from 23rd - 28th April. This is an expanded programme on immunisation for children under 5 year old as well as women of child bearing age. The team would first give a talk on vaccine preventable diseases before immunising the children and providing family planning.

Remind Sibanda said they'd like to make Crossroads a permanent outreach point which means that they will come to Crossroads monthly to treat minor ailments and for immunisation.

What a privilege to be able to serve the community in this way.
