Three men in the burning Furnace - By Scott Marques

River of Life Eastlea
It was excellent visiting River of Life Church Eastlea, Harare last Sunday. It was great seeing old friends again. The praise and worship was wonderful and the atmosphere seemed so light and free. It felt like we had never left!! A few young people went through the waters of baptism before Scott Marques shared from:

Daniel 3:19 - 26 "Then Nebuchadnezzer was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated 7 times hotter than usual and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in the army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the burning furnace. So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, trubans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. The King's command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, 'Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?' They replied, 'Certainly, You majesty.' He said, 'Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like the a son of the gods,' Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, 'Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here" so Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo came out of the fire."

Some points from this message:
  1. The Bible is full of truth.
  2. We live in a world that has huge pressures. The world is like the firey furnace.
  3. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were in the world.
  4. King Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury and his expression changed.
  5. Mighty men were ordered to bind up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the burning furnace. The flames were so hot that they killed the soldiers who took the 3 men to the furnace.
  6. v24 "Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, 'Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?'
  7. v 25 "he said, 'Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.'
  8. Jesus allows us to go through the fire unbound and unburnt. There is a way. It wasn't only the 3 men but there was a fourth and that man was Jesus. He will take us through the fire.
  9. In the world you will have trouble but God says He will be with us. The world is one of the toughest places to be.
  10. v27 " ........the hair on their heads were not singed......

Going through the Waters of Baptism
Scott encouraged people to be radically obedient and not bow down to idols. Our decisions are Jesus and His will. Our motivation is Him. I will stand because this is what Jesus wants me to do.
  1. In the workplace - businessmen, teachers etc, what are the employees saying about the boss and visa versa. We need to be transformed and smell of Jesus.
  2. Let your good deeds so shine....... Everyone is watching you. Don't fear the enemy or man but keep your eyes on Jesus.
