Power Nugget 5

Isaiah 40: 28 - 31

Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

Power Nugget 4

Why pray (2)

  • ·         Jesus prayed. The garden of Gethsemane is one example. How much more should we pray.

  • ·         He taught the disciples how to pray “Our Father….”

  • ·         A safe and well-loved place to be is in the presence of God. Prayer takes us to that place.

  • ·         There is great intimacy in prayer: God sees us, He ‘gets’ us and He loves us still!

  • ·         It’s good to talk to our heavenly Father about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

  • ·         God reveals things to us through prayer.

  • ·         We get wisdom, strength and understanding through prayer.

  • ·         Prayer helps us stand in the gap on behalf of someone else/people groups and on behalf of our nation/nations.

  • ·         Prayer helps us grow.

  • ·         Corporate prayer strengthens our relationships and friendships as we pray with one heart, one mind and one purpose.

  • ·         Prayer brings unity.

  • ·         Prayer turns this around – It not only changes things but prayer changes us.
