AWAKE
Awake to righteousness and sin not! 1 Corinthians 15:34 “Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.” Romans 13:11 “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” ……. says and do this (love one another), knowing the time, that it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
Put on the Lord Jesus and make no provision for the flesh. To be awake spiritually is to stop being passive towards all that is credited to our account spiritually, both the benefits and responsibilities. It is ours to receive the divine nature as a benefit and our responsibility to be in obedience to God. We will not put on anything meaningful without being awake. As in the natural when we sleep we are inactive and no matter what is going on around us, we are not involved. To make an impact or see things change for good in our lives or in others we need to wake up. To stop sinning and to put on Jesus, all demand that we should be awake. e.g. the story of the wheat and the tares; it was when men slept that the enemy planted the tares. Whatever God wants done in the Kingdom, the enemy watches out for when men sleep to plant something similar but a terrible counterfeit. To enjoy the reality of what God has given us is to awake to the reality and not fall for the fake things around.
Truth has boundaries. Application of truth within the right boundaries can only be done when we are awake. To be awake also implies being watchful in prayers. ‘Watch and pray’ has implications. Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead and Christ will give you light. Ephesians 5:14.
Be Alert!
