Power Nugget - My Rock

Like Nehemiah, let us pray that God builds our spiritual lives and causes us to trust in Him and His Truth – His Word.

O my strength, I will sing praises to You; For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness. (Psalm 59:17)

He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
(Psalm 62:2 & 6)

Crossing over to the other side

Munyaradzi Siziba with his family

Munyaradzi Siziba from Thembalezizwe Church shared a timely message this morning from Joshua 3: 1 – 17

As the Israelites were about to enter the promised land there were certain requirements that needed to be met.

1.     The people needed to purify themselves before crossing the Jordan River. We all know what is going on in our hearts and lives. For a breakthrough to occur, we need to purify ourselves.

2.    The Priests were to lead: The Priests had to enter the river first before the people followed. The people needed to follow the instructions from the Priests. We have many rivers in our lives and therefore we need to follow instructions carefully.

3.    Munya encouraged the folk at Crossroads not to become so distracted by mobile phones. People bring phones to church and while the worship or the word is being preached, people are busy using their phones instead of focusing on God. God knows our hearts and He knows what we are doing.

Let us cross that river.

Fall on our knees

Stephen Manhanga shared the story about Lazarus. He emphasized certain aspects of the story like:
  • When Jesus heard about Lazarus death, he waited 2 days before heading off to Bethany.
  • When Martha saw him, she said 'If only you had been here our brother would not have died."
  • When Mary saw Jesus, she fell at his feet before saying the exact words like Martha. The Jews that followed her were weeping.
  • Sometimes, in order for our breakthrough to take place, we need to be prepared to fall at Jesus feet. The woman with the issue of blood fell on hands and knees so she could touch Jesus garments.
  • John 11:35 ' Jesus wept" shows the emotion he felt at seeing Mary and Martha's grief and the love he had for Lazarus.
  • When Jesus approached Lazarus tomb, he said "roll the stone away"
  • Sometimes we build walls in our lives which need to be 'rolled' away before the issues or situations can be addressed.
  • Jesus prayed to God first before speaking to Lazarus. He who was dead, rose to life. Speak to those dry bones......
  • Lazarus was all wrapped up, wearing 'clothes' that were not befitting for a man that was alive.
  • The wrapping needed to be removed in order for him to be free. Jesus said 'loose him and let him go'
It was a good message. May we be hearers and doers of the word.

Combined service at The Base Church

Combined Churches worshipping God

We had an excellent combined service at The Base Church in Bulawayo this morning where Elders were being ordained.  Some of the Churches represented were New Creation Church, Hope City Church, Thembalezizwe Church (TLZ), Hamara Church and Crossroads Community Church.
Tapiwa Chizana

Tapiwa Chizana from Hope City Church shared the word from Genesis 1 :27 and Luke 19:10 before ordaining Elders. The Elders from left to right are Jay Gerhart and his wife Sarah, Keith Maphosa, Peter Cunningham and his wife Diane, Mbonisi Mhlotshwa and his wife Abigail and David Cunningham. The Base church has been planted out of New Creation and it was so good seeing and hearing Mpi Ndebele from New Creation speaking blessing over them and the great commission of going out into all the nations and making disciples.

PASSION KILLERS

God has given to each one of us gifts which we need to operate in. There is an area of ministry which we are passionate about, which we are drawn to. Our natural talents can be an indicator of what we are passionate about. Whatever our passion is, we need to continually fan it and guard it from the passion killers.

Passion killers can take the form of many things but the obvious ones are:

1.   Unclear purpose

2.   Exhaustion or frustration

3.   Malnourished soul

4.   Relationships

God has an assignment for each one of us and He is the one who has ordered out steps.

Encouragement for the day

1 John 3:1- 3

"How great is the love that the Father has
lavished on us, that we should be called
children of God? And that is what we are!
The reason the world does not know us is
that it did not know him. Dear friends
now we are children of God, and what we
will be has not yet been made known. But
we know that when he appears, we shall
be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Everyone who has this hope, purifies himself,
just as he is pure.

SWAG

The word swag dates back many years but recently (last couple of years), the word reappeared again. It is used many in slang form meaning ‘bold self-confidence in style or manner” or “an air of self-confidence”.

Swag, the word, actually means a curtain or piece of fabric fastened so as to hang in a drooping curve.

Its acronym means Stuff We All Get.

What about looking at it with ‘fresh eyes’ and making it have a heavenly perspective. SWAG - meaning Saved With Amazing Grace. Now that is swag!!!
