It was really exciting spending a day with the Kidz Alive facilitators and the Crossroads children. 120 children turned up for our event called “Breaking Free”: breaking free from the cultural norms, chores of the day, habits and so on and just being Free to be children: to sing, laugh, play, have fun, build relationships and friendships, share a meal together and so on. Most importantly, it was “breaking free” to hear and apply the word of God to their lives.
The day started with the children doing a fun “concentration” game which they love and it gets them all excited. Song and dance followed as the excited children praised God. It’s wonderful seeing children enjoying themselves in the Lord. We spent some time praying for Crossroads, the community and for the children. The idea of praying individually and corporately as children seemed so foreign to some of the children. With more and more emphasis being put on prayer, it’s my hope that eventually prayer becomes a part of the children’s everyday life.
