Romans
12:2b says “Do not
conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind.”
The mind plays a vital part of who we are, how we think
and what we believe. When the Bible speaks about renewing our mind, I don’t
believe it’s speaking about someone else trying to ‘control’ how you think,
behave or what you say. We are not created to be experiments like Pavlov’s
theory but we were created to worship the living God…… and worship Him in
spirit and truth. God has given each of us gifts – some more than others.
We
need to learn how to celebrate our own gifts as well as the gifts given to
others for example, some preachers lead churches of tens of thousands while
others lead churches with less than 50 people. Whatever the case, there is no
need to panic or feel insecure. Let us rejoice and be glad because Christ is
coming back for His bride.
Too often, we try and hinder people or try and stop
them from operating in their God-given gifts. Gods’ ways are much higher than
ours and His thoughts are far greater and purer than ours. Renewed thinking
comes from saturating ourselves in the word of God. So many of life’s
experiences can be found in the Bible and what better Father, guide, counselor,
vindicator do we have than God Himself.
When all is said and done, all Christians want to be with our
eternal Lord and Saviour forever.
Philippians
2:5 - 11
In
your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in
very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his
own advantage;
7 rather, he
made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in
human likeness.
8 And being
found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God
exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every
name,
10 that at the
name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth,
11 and every
tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
