Fervent prayer always precedes the Holy Spirit FIRE.
The disciples of Jesus NEEDED the FIRE of the Holy Spirit in order to carry out The Great Commission.
Shortly after the birth of the Church, men would replace the power of Pentecost with religious rules and traditions of men. It’s tragic to observe the metamorphosis that the Church of 2000 years ago went through. The Apostle Paul said in Galatians 3:1 – 5 “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: did you receive the spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain – if indeed it was vain? Therefore he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? –
You can instantly see when someone is full of the Holy Spirit Fire or just going through the motions. This is not some fabricated game but a battle for lost souls that we are involved in. Every soul saved, advances the kingdom of God and is another step forward for the great Commission.
Timidity needs to be replaced with boldness – unashamed fearless and frank confidence. To receive boldness, we need to earnestly pray and press in to save this troubled generation we are living in – like never before. Boldness is that quality of a Christ like person who gets up from his knees and unashamedly confronts anyone with the testimony of Christ.
There are many ways and means to win souls for Jesus. However, prayer must always precede our witness.
