Last Sunday, we looked at the fourth Family Value - Sexual Purity. The scriptures we focused on were Hebrews 13:4, Proverbs 5:15 - 23, Matthew 5:27 - 30, Genesis 2:24, 1 Corinthians 6:13 - 20 and Job 31:1.
Some pointers from the message:
- God made it very clear from His word about sexual purity.
- Stephen encouraged the church not to lose their moral compass.
- Older ladies talk to - train the younger ladies and older men, train the young men.
- Folk in the community seem to battle with the issue of self-respect.
- Sex was created by God and intended to be a joy and delight within marriage.
- We live in a sex-saturated era and we are bombarded with sexual images everywhere etc.
- Temptations will be there but it's how we handle it that matters.
- Stephen encouraged the folk to stand and having done that, to stand again.
- Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
- We would like to build strong marriages, strong families and strong communities.
- Steve then shared the story of David and Bathsheba. David was in the wrong place at the wrong time looking at the wrong person and he ended up doing the wrong thing!
- Sow a thought, reap and action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.
- Although there are consequences to sin; God can and does forgive sexual sin.
