There were about 125 people who attended the Eye Clinic at Mapisa which was organised by Steve Manhanga and team. Dr Beaty and team from the USA come to Zimbabwe and serve communities by testing their eye sight and blessing folk with glasses. There were 5 translators who assisted Dr Beaty and his team.
Steve Manhanga shared from Mark 10:46 - 52 "Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means son of Timaeus), was sitting by the raodside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Jesus stopped and said, "Call him."
So they called to the blind man, "cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." Throwing back his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said "Rabbi, I want to see."
"Go," Jesus said, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road."
This story has so many life lessons
1. Blind Bartemaeus knew that Jesus could help him.
2. There are times we need to 'shout' to be heard despite the attempts of people to keep us quiet.
3. Jesus does hear us whether we shout or not.
4. Miracles continue to happen. This man received his eye sight and followed Jesus.
There was a member from Steve Beaty's team that had a cube which he used as a tool to tell the Jesus story.
Many people were prayed for. The Eye Clinic was a great outreach into a community and the much needed prayer was a good indicator of the needs of the people:
1. Marital challenges
2. Sickness
It was a good day!
