Worship Workshop pt 4 - Practical Realities

Mark shared on the practical realities of leading worship....
  • Preparation is key i.e. prayer, reading your Bible, know your people etc
  • Commitment - need a heart connection.
  • Privilege comes with responsibility - help people to mature, to grow up. Some people may not be ready for the profile.
  • Serve God by getting your hearts ready first. Know what pleases God.
  • Chose and sing songs about Jesus. Serve the people by getting them to fix their eyes on Jesus.
  • Understand where people are at. 'Work' the room to serve and minister. Be honest with yourself as well and lead yourself.
  • Dress appropriately. Some modern fashions are revealing. Simple is best. Honour God.
  • Be creative - can have dance where necessary, read scriptures etc.
  • The trust factor is so important. Do everything out of humility as it breaks down barriers.
  • Work in team. Have weaknesses and strengths.
  • Greater humility, greater anointing!
  • If you want to be a leader to someone, love them and help them: are there any 'dark' areas in their life?, Is there dependency? Are they in serious debt? Do they have sound doctrine?
  • The heart of discipleship is loving. be committed to people's futures.
  • Minister from a place of REST. Don't sacrifice people for church growth. That's ambition, not love!
  • Give people vision. Find the balance of releasing versus holding back. tell people who they are and let them fly.
  • Protect people.
  • Apostolic relationship is important. Sowing and reaping is a kingdom principle. Gotta model it.
  • Leaders are keepers of the gate. Why do we have so many burnt out worship leaders? people are precious.
  • Make things fluid. Everyone's a leader but you need a captain.
  • Don't be too sensitive. Take risks and communicate. Find a language that works for your people.
  • Live a life worthy of the calling. Don't stay small. You're a weapon.
  • Key role of the prophetic: lead elder, administer what is going on. have a relationship with your leader. there is a difference between real wisdom words and the prophetic. have robust relationships.
  • Called to contend for the presence of God. Know His presence and desire it and fight for it. Genesis 26:12.
  • In the face of clean worship, real things etc, there will be opposition and disputes. persevere through quarrels and disputes and contend for the presence of God.
