Text: Hebrews 11:1 - 39
Speaker: Scott Marques, Apostolic leader Newfrontiers Zimbabwe
Scott said that this passage is charged in terms of momentum. Every person is unique and the enemy is trying to distract us from the race. we need to get connected to Jesus as everything is against us. We are ready for heroes of the faith. The writer inspired faith. Go and fulfil the purposes God has for you. The vision of Isaiah 58 is calling the church to faith, courage, action and peserverence. Scott encouraged the people to be faithful with what we have.
1. Real Faith. Our christianity should be based with real faith in Jesus Christ. there shouldn't be any mixing i.e. doubt, fear and other gods etc with our faith. We are essentially about bringing people to real faith. The church seems to be up to the same tricks as the world. We need to be different. Isaiah 58 - Jesus is concerned about the church. God's plan for his nation is through the church. Without genuine faith in Christ, we are lost. We only live for a short time here on earth, let's not be bribed by our flesh and by comforts. Let our yes be yes and our no, no.
2. Real Action. faith without works is dead. The spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon us for a reason or for a purpose. Love the Lord and love your neighbour. This is real action. Pour out the love of Jesus Christ. There is something exciting about expressing love to each other. God captures us up with his spirit. God is LOVE. Love is not just talk, but action too. God gives us words and action.
3. Real courage. Real courage against all odds. whether we are courageous or not, the circumstances of life are tough and we are not going to escape hardship and pressure. We will have troubles and trials. Take heart as we have overcome. In Jesus there is no condemnation. We live in a fallen world. We need to have genuine faith in Jesus and perservere with all courage.
