Rahab and the spies
"Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent 2 spies from Shittim to look over the land of Jericho. So the spies went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. The King of Jericho was told that some Israelites have come to spy out the land and they were staying with Rahab. So the King of Jericho sent a message to Rahab: "Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land." Rahab said the men did come but they had left. In the meantime she had hidden them on her flat roof and covered them with the flax plant.
She then spoke to the men and said she knows what God has done for the Israelites. She believes that the Lord has given them the land and that they will take over the city. She asked them to make a promise -to spare her life and that of her family when they invade the city. The men agreed on one condition - that her family be gathered in her house when they came and they gave Rahab a scarlet cord to put on her window. When they see it, they'll get her and her family to safety. The spies then escaped...........
Under the leadership of Joshua, the Israelites went to the city of Jericho. They planned that for 6 days they would march around the city in silence and on the 7th day, the priests would blow their trumpets and horns and the people would shout. as they finished doing that on the 7th day the walls of Jericho fell. the city was destroyed except for Rahab and her family. The 2 spies that were initially sent by Joshua went to get Rahab and her family. They went with the Israelites and joined the Israelite people where they saw God do many more miracles.
